Star Belly Sneetches in America

Several months ago my son Jamie took all of us to Seussical The Musical.  After I prayed for America this morning, I thought about that show.  I wondered if America is going to be like the Sneetches in Dr. Seuss’ book, The Sneetches. Now, the Star-Bell Sneetches had bellies with stars. The Plain-Belly Sneetches had none upon thars. Those stars weren’t so big. They were really so small. You might think such a thing wouldn’t matter at all. But, because they had stars, all the Star-Belly Sneetches Would brag, “We’re the best kind of Sneetch on the beaches.” With their snoots in the air, they would sniff and they’d snort “We’ll

Will YOU be indicted?

There’s talk about indictment and/or imprisonment for a lot of powerful people.  Like many of my friends I am concerned about what will happen to citizens of this country if we have to go through months or even years of legal debates, lawsuits and the never ending headlines involving people of power.  We are all exhausted with the last year of debates and mudslinging.  This country’s people are at a breaking point. Nothing gets done when we are distracted by indictment or criminal behaviors. When your life, your family, your state or your country is in chaos, it’s hard to be productive and move forward. If you think electing a

Can you pray for me?

Mom took a while to finish supper tonight.  She wanted to talk so I sat at the table with her, but she just stared out the window.  When I tried to prompt conversation, she asked me to leave her alone until she was finished. With Dad gone I can see the pain in her eyes.  They were together for 65 years.  Unlike couples who spend the work day apart, mom and dad worked together.  Side by side, sharing each other’s burdens, day after day.  For the last three years mom and dad were like peas in a pod.  They sat together, ate together, ventured out on the porch – together

I believe in Miracles….

Over the years I’ve listened to the stories of miracles recounted by wonderful Christian members and pastors.  I’ve watched as my parents experienced exciting miracles.  Those miracles were things that could NOT have happened on their own and took place against all odds. On a world wide missionary trip Dad saw blind eyes open and a leg grew 5 inches while the 2,000 person crowd wildly praised God.  A man’s hearing was healed, a toddler walked away from his death bed and dad faced Satan in VooDoo country. More importantly to my own faith, I know I wouldn’t be here if God had not answered prayers with a miracle.  When

The Candidates of the Heavenly Election

The biggest election of all time is happening right now!  In fact, it has been happening since the beginning of time.  (spoiler alert – more on God’s choice for this election at the end of this post) God created an amazing garden on earth and placed two people in that garden.  He had a host of wonderful ideas, gifts, entertainment, inventions, and plans.  No one ever talks about what a wonderful world this would have been if God’s plan had not been interrupted.  I don’t believe we would still be running around in a garden.  God would have allowed humans to grow, invent, and enjoy this world.  You and I

God’s Choice for President

Christians stand on both sides of the aisle. They face each other with the same passion and the same desire to see America thrive. Each side prays for God to intervene. Because both sides realize that having God’s approval is a badge of honor. Passion and emotions rise as the two sides hurl accusations and demand that their choice is God’s Choice. Rather than becoming more tolerable, our country has learned to love labels. That’s one of the reasons we are so polarized. With flaws on both sides of this presidential race, some people feel it is essential to find higher ground. Unfortunately, the higher ground they want is a
