Are you afraid of the future?

The political machine can make you feel like the world will come to an end by tomorrow afternoon.  Friends of mine have expressed their fears more and more. “I can’t trust anyone.  I don’t trust the public school system.  I don’t trust my boss and I’m sure my husband’s boss of 20 years is trying to demote him.  I’m afraid my pastor isn’t preaching the truth and I’m worried about our safety in America.  Every time I drive to the store I worry and pray that we won’t be attacked by Isis or some manic.  I’m afraid all the time.  I don’t know what to do.” First I gave my

Darlene’s Daily

6-20-11   Personal note…..I thought it was so fun that Darlene loved blonde jokes.  We often traded jokes.  I know her own hair was brown but I’m sure there’s a story there.  Maybe she had a childhood friend that was blonde or maybe a family member.  Does anyone know why a blonde story made her giggle? *’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~` Have you stopped seeing great things happen in your life?  Perhaps you have stopped believing that God can work in a mighty way even in our generation.– Luis Palau *’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~`*’~` A painting contractor was speaking with a woman about a job. Notes from Mom

A close knit Family is your responsibility – not theirs!   Family will always care about you because of the “bloodlines” connection. But….being close knit is your responsibility. If you want to be close to your family, you must spend time caring about them, their needs and their life. 1.  Call often. Every few days or at least once a week. 2.  Stop talking about yourself and ask about them.  If something is important to them, it should be important to you. 3.  Forgive the fact that they aren’t you. You are related – not identical soul twins.  You should be different.  Your personalities, likes and dislikes will be different.

Look for me and I will be there – God

To say that this has been a difficult week is an understatement. But then, every week is a difficult week caring for two severe dementia patients. I took Dad to the doctor this week for his regular appointment. The doctor was super nice and tried to get Dad to talk. Dad responded in a way that’s his new normal – he nodded, looked afraid and pointed to me to answer all questions. Dad’s vitals were good but the fact that he had lost 11 pounds in a few months, didn’t want to talk, shuffled when he walked and was out of breath suggested that Dad is getting weaker. The doctor

Happy Mother’s Day

To all the moms out there…..Never forget that you are building the future.  If this world gets better and if we are successful as a society – it will be because you “built” mature adults who are willing to contribute to society.  America will only be as successful as the family unit will allow.  Mom, your work has an eternal implication and you will determine the direction of America’s future.  God bless you.  God bless your work.  Never give up!   THE INVISIBLE MOTHER . It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while

Love and Concern are proven by our choices

As most of you know, I am taking care of two people (my parents) with severe dementia. Living in the same house together makes it a full time – very hard – job. There are times I’m so tired and frustrated that I lock the bedroom door and scream into my pillow. Most of the time Dad doesn’t recognize me as his daughter. He will ask – “What got you in this business?” I’ve answered that question over and over. I take a deep breath, smile and respond one more time, “Dad, I’m not in a business. I wouldn’t do this for anyone else. It’s too hard. There’s not enough
