Did the church create current campaign corruption?
It’s Sunday and I’m feeling the love of God on His day. I turned on some of my Christian music. As a quartet and choir sang about the Majesty of God, I bowed my head to pray for our country. I watched the sun top over some trees and thought about the terrible situation in America. America is much worse than it has been in previous years. We have horrible violence, anarchy, and a general acceptance of evil and it’s consequences. We need Christians with backbone!
I thought about you all day today. I wondered how many of you were joining with me in prayer. I wondered if you cared about our country more than your normal activities. It was beautiful here today. I rode with my daughter to a friend’s birthday party. We chatted and talked. We discussed the election and we prayed for America. When Afraid … try the miracle of prayer
Why are so many people angry about this election? Some people are afraid and many Christians are terrified. Ask a Christian if they believe in God and they may square their shoulders, give you a determined look and reply “Absolutely!” They may even look confused and wonder why you asked. Yet, take the conversation one step further. “Do you believe in Miracles?” Most Christians will smile, shuffle their feet, look around the room and respond with a half hearted, “Uh…yes?” My grandparents and parents saw and participated in miracles. I stayed up late last night to write a long piece about this election. A friend of mine wrote a piece on Facebook and I was inspired by her courage. I need to speak up. My Daddy’s shoes I remember (age 5) standing at my dad’s bedroom door on Sunday morning. He hummed a little tune while he buffed his shoes. He liked them super shiny. I was daddy’s little girl. He smiled at me and grabbed his coat. We walked hand in hand across the yard to church. Mother insisted that I sit on the front row piano side.
