Phooey on this election – what about me?

I feel your pain.  I think we are all tired of the anxious worry about who is going to take the White House.  We know the stakes are high and yet this process has gone on for over a year now.  We are tired of the back and forth – this person may be good.  Oh no, wait a minute…..not really.  But then this person is not good either.  What should I do? The anxiety, depression, frustration and for some people even deep anger……it’s just too much.  Our bodies can only take so much stress and then we begin to break down.  Our head hurts, our tummy is upset and we

Can one lone Christian make a difference?

Have you heard the beautiful example of how powerful one person can be?  Go into a completely dark room and light one candle.  Not only can you see, but the room will be lit enough that you may not stub your toe. I read once that someone went to Africa to test the candle example.  His crew settled in an area covered mostly with grass. They waited for a completely dark night.  The moon and stars were hidden by clouds.  The researcher lit one small candle and his assistants walked away to see how far it could be seen.  It was over two miles before the tiny candle’s light was

The Debate letdown

Do you feel better this morning or worse?  You prayed hard last night.  You prayed while watching the debates.  You felt somewhat okay when you went to bed – but this morning you feel discouraged.  What happened? Psychologically your mind has the ability to ramp up and handle a stressful situation.  No matter what you are facing, your mind can be disciplined and find strength “for the moment”.  Maybe you are involved in a confrontation at work.  Maybe your kid needs you to be strong.  Maybe your church is facing an uphill battle.  Maybe you and your spouse need to have a “come to Jesus” moment about issues in your

Biblical Paul vs. 2016 Presidential Debate

Praying for this election cycle has taken me into some unexpected thoughts.  I am anxious about tonight’s Presidential debate.  The news media has already forecast a future for America that scares me.  I haven’t shared a lot about my own personal voting preferences because I am committed to allowing my prayers to guide me and open my mind to the person God’s wants – even if that’s not my current choice.  I truly want God to be in control of this election and my vote. I was praying today and asking God to give every viewer a clear picture of each candidate.  “Let tonight’s debate reveal the truth about motives

Smart Christians – Silent Power

Life for the committed Christian or the opinionated person is pretty dangerous right now.  Some of my friends get very nervous when I ask for their opinion about our country, our churches, our faith, the future and raising children.  Those same friends assume the duck and run pose when I dare ask about their political opinions in this race. Political opponents who oppose conservative values have done a great job of demonizing the “individual” rather than the difference of opinions.  Political correctness is not freedom and has frightened most conservatives to silence.  Some people feel as though they have been duck tapped.  Opponents have drawn such a squiggly line on

Evil forces vs. the Power of Prayer

Heroes of the Faith – a five book series – is a collection of personal stories written by missionaries.  I have read these books many times.  Each story recounts a miracle or an answer to prayer.  These powerful books are only $1 each.  I encourage you to use the link for purchase.  I promise they will encourage your faith and your prayer life like nothing else can. Evil forces are roaming our country.  They want the minds and hearts of our precious children and grandchildren.  They want to destroy families, marriages, churches and our Christian freedoms. How can you fight these forces?  With prayer and the knowledge that they hold
