upset-childI feel your pain.  I think we are all tired of the anxious worry about who is going to take the White House.  We know the stakes are high and yet this process has gone on for over a year now.  We are tired of the back and forth – this person may be good.  Oh no, wait a minute…..not really.  But then this person is not good either.  What should I do?

The anxiety, depression, frustration and for some people even deep anger……it’s just too much.  Our bodies can only take so much stress and then we begin to break down.  Our head hurts, our tummy is upset and we just want a peaceful day.

And sometimes all that anxiety builds to the point that we want to stomp our feet like a small child and scream…..”I don’t care anymore.  All I care about is me!  What is going to happen to me?”

Guess what?   Jesus understands.   In Mark 8:11-13 the Pharisees and Scribes wanted a sign or miracle that Jesus was telling the truth.

Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus. They tested Him by demanding from Him a sign from heaven. Jesus sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.” Then He left them, got back into the boat, and crossed to the other side.

If man can irritate and frustrate the son of God – how much more will we be frustrated with the irritations of contemporary America.

It’s Okay to want to take a break.  It’s okay to feel like you just can’t think of one more logical way to convince others to pray or to vote a specific way.  It’s okay to see research on your laptop and close it down as quickly as it appeared.

The fight is legitimate and it must go on.  We must continue to do what God has called us to do.  We are expected to participate in this world and it’s demands.

However, we are also expected to be our best – in body, in mind and in spirit.  That means, there will be times when we have to walk away.  Did you catch the last part of those verses?  “Jesus left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.”

I hope today you will pray the following prayer with me.  Then close your laptop.  Kiss your spouse, your child or cuddle your dog.  Take a walk and breathe the fresh air.  Twirl a yellow or red leaf in your hand.  Listen for children playing down the street.  Indulge in a donut, or an ice cream or a candy apple – or maybe all three.  🙂  Look in the mirror and say these words.  God loves me.  I’m going to get some rest and fight this fight tomorrow.  I will obey God and do my best for my family, for my country and for our future.  But today…..I will laugh.

Turn on the silliest movie you can find and then get a good night’s sleep.  I am so proud of all of you. I am so grateful that you are praying with me.  I love you and God loves you.

praying-girlDear Jesus, I’m weary.  I’m tired of the fight.  Tonight I give it all to you.  I ask you to please take this and do with it as you will.

I do want your will in my life and for this country.  I do want things to be better and to be different.  But tonight, please help me to rest and to be rejuvenated for the fight.  Just like you encouraged, fed and helped your prophets, please help me to take a little time for myself and my family.  Forgive me of my sins and I promise tomorrow, I will fight again.

See You Tomorrow.
