Several months ago my son Jamie took all of us to Seussical The Musical.  After I prayed for America this morning, I thought about that show.  I wondered if America is going to be like the Sneetches in Dr. Seuss’ book, The Sneetches.

Now, the Star-Bell Sneetches had bellies with stars.
The Plain-Belly Sneetches had none upon thars.
Those stars weren’t so big. They were really so small.
You might think such a thing wouldn’t matter at all.

But, because they had stars, all the Star-Belly Sneetches
Would brag, “We’re the best kind of Sneetch on the beaches.”
With their snoots in the air, they would sniff and they’d snort
“We’ll have nothing to do with the Plain-Belly sort!”
And, whenever they met some, when they were out walking,
They’d hike right on past them without even talking.

It’s a cute book that encourages children not to be cliquish.  This election has been a hard fought one.  There are emotions on all sides.  Even the pundits have escalated their discussions to loud accusations.

I’m smiling today because I don’t believe this country can continue to be like the Sneetches. I believe with a little work on our part, we can bring this country together with love and with the power of God.

We have just three days until this election will be decided.  On November 9th we will be able to move on to the task of helping our country.  God has given me some very specific ways that we – the individual – can impact our country for good.  I hope that you will continue to pray for America. I also hope you will join me here to discuss how we can make individual changes that will spread across America.

Today I would like to encourage you to pray for “people” not ideologies.  Pray that God will bring us all together and prepare us to help make our country the best it can be.

Dear Jesus please forgive us of our sins.  Help us to care about others in the same way you do.  Please teach us how to love others in spite of our differences or our beliefs.  Help all of us to seek out and to know the truth about our world.  “Know the truth and the truth will set you free.”  (John 8:32)

Help us to make an impact on our country.  Help us to be willing to work together to make a difference.  Help us to change our personal lives in such a way that others will want what we have.

Give us knowledge, wisdom, power and strength.  Help us to bring this country back to you.

We love you Jesus.

See you tomorrow
