APPROACHING DEATH’S DOOR – WITH A WAR ANGEL.
Just after Thanksgiving, I took Ron to the Emergency Room. We are so grateful that his sister Gloria insisted that he was in trouble and should go. After a quick evaluation, ER admitted him to the hospital. Later they discovered not only did he have Covid lungs, he was so bad the doctors had nothing positive to say about his condition. Another day or so of evaluation caused the doctors to put him in ICU and administer the most oxygen possible – 60 liters. He still struggled to breathe. The doctor asked Amie to meet him in the hallway. The doctor stared at Amie. “I’m sorry, but we don’t

Advice is easy to come by
by Dr. Ken Crocker Look around today and you can see we are being buried under an avalanche of advice. It seems like everyone is trying to tell us what to do. And it’s a very rare person who doesn’t like to give advice to others. It’s been said, “All of us admire the wisdom and good sense of those who come to us for advice.” Good advice is often essential to our decision-making process. Unfortunately, there is a lot of conflicting advice. For example, I preach active optimism but if you don’t like that you can buy a book on how to cure yourself of positive thinking. The church

Breathe…Debbie, Breathe!
I need a big….long….deep…breath…..(and the sunset on the beach wouldn’t hurt either). My phone has been busy for six weeks. I thank God everyday that I can offer hope and logic to people who are afraid and hurting. Yet, after a while it feels like we all need a deep breath. Since last summer, writing deadlines, Covid, lockdowns, riots and ignorance about elections have caused a lot of stress. I’ve often had to walk out on my front porch, pace and take deep breaths followed by long sighs. I walk from one side of my porch to the other with my hands in the air calling out to

You’ve Got the ball
Look around you. Most people are nervous. They are anxious. Some are even afraid. All you have to do is mumble something about the election or personal freedoms and all kinds of emotions bubble to the surface. I wrote a book about the challenge of fighting spiritual battles. Praying for America and the Army of God spent a lot of time building the reader’s confidence that he/she was called by God. Passionate prayers coupled with a God-given project can change the world. I encouraged readers to use their talents, do what they can, and trust God to do the rest. In the last three weeks, everyone has asked, “What do

“I don’t know what to do next” Father of Parkland Victim
My heart broke listening to the father of a beautiful 14 year old, as he expressed his grief at a candlelight service in Parkland, Florida. Through tears he expressed his pain. In exasperation he declared, “I don’t know what to do next!” I imagined the faces of my children when they were that age. I know the process those parents will have to endure, but as a parent I can’t imagine how I could carry the heavy emotional burden of that kind of massive grief. It’s not only the knowledge of death. These parents will suffer over and over as their minds replay graphic details and wonder if their child
