I need a big….long….deep…breath…..(and the sunset on the beach wouldn’t hurt either).

My phone has been busy for six weeks.  I thank God everyday that I can offer hope and logic to people who are afraid and hurting.  Yet, after a while it feels like we all need a deep breath.

Since last summer, writing deadlines, Covid, lockdowns, riots and ignorance about elections have caused a lot of stress.  I’ve often had to walk out on my front porch, pace and take deep breaths followed by long sighs.  I walk from one side of my porch to the other with my hands in the air calling out to God.   (My neighbors think I’m nuts – but that part isn’t new.)

Our minds are capable of multi-tasking.  Some days we may feel calm balancing two plates spinning on poles like the circus performer.  Other days we may feel as though 10 plates are wobbling and ready to crash to the ground and splinter our lives into a hundred little pieces.

With our multi-tasking mind, it is possible to trust God, be positive He is near, and pray powerful prayers – all while we also feel the weight of the humongous wave of daily issues. We may peacefully float on top of the ocean, oblivious to the approaching wave that contains a multitude of problems.

As we lay there, eyes shut tight, praying and believing – within seconds the Tsunami wave of daily problems can drop, push us to the floor of the sea and roll our body over and over until we are finally shoved on the sand like a beached whale coughing and gasping for air.

THAT MY FRIEND, IS NOT DISBELIEF!  It is the reality of dealing with a sin-lost world who has just collided with you and your God.

It is not the time for a knee-jerk response.  Screaming and yelling at the wave that has just rolled back into the sea will do no good.

I know this process well, both physically and spiritually.  On vacation with the family in the summer of 2019 I had that same experience.  In the attached picture of the crashing wave, I was being rolled on the bottom of the beach while broken shells scratched my legs.  I finally pushed my aching legs hard enough to stand up so I could walk/swim to shore.  As the waves continued to roll in, they slapped me from behind, knocked me down again and pulled me back into the rough waters.  The violent waves came up so fast!  One moment I was peacefully floating on gentle waves and the next moment I was being attacked.

I wasn’t logical or as prayerful as I should have been.  Instead, I screamed and fought against anything that touched me.  Ron reached out to grab me and we both went down – again.  After that I pushed away from everything while vowing to make my way to shore.

Do you feel that way today?  I sure do.  I trust God and I am positive he will not leave me or forsake me. Yet, the reality of the Tsunami wave is terrifying.

No mater what happens this week or in the weeks to come, by the grace of God I will figure things out and so will you.  We will move forward.  We will stand on the solid foundation of God!  We will claim His promises. We will be victorious.  We will save America and God will help us.

I beg you to consider fasting and praying this week for our country.  We are rapidly being told that the current plan is to take away our freedoms – especially the freedom of speech – and to change our country to a poor socialist country.

It’s a big job to prevent this from happening.  What can we do? How can we help? In reality, it’s a God-sized job that demands powerful prayers.  Good men must find the inspiration to follow the calling of our loving Savior. We can’t do this without His power and His work in our lives and the lives of all Americans who believe in freedom.  We are not about violence.  We do not condone it or participate in it.   We stand for the living God and His purpose for every life and for our country.

Please pray that God will bring about a miracle and save our country, that he will save souls and will renew Christians as they return to victorious lives.

The Bible does insist that “God” will do what He has to do to change men’s hearts.  Therefore, I will pray for GOD to defeat evil and to bless those who love Him.  I will pray for GOD to keep America safe.  And…I will pray for you.  Will you join me?

I will not watch television tomorrow.  Instead, I will fast and pray that God will protect America and all of those who love Him.

As always, no matter what happens in the future, you can find me and my continued writings at debbiejansen.com

Please consider using the contact page to send me your e-mail address and other information so you will always be assured that we can stay in touch.  After all, there was a time when letters, e-mails, or phone calls were our mode of conversation.  If we maintain that form of communication we can always stay in touch.

Dear Jesus, please calm our precious America.  Show yourself to those who live without you.  Bring our government to the knowledge that it is only with you that they can govern well.  May all Christians re-dedicate their lives to you and get on their knees and pray for healing for our land.

Give us your grace.  Give us your peace.  Help us to live for you.             Amen
