Scriptures Against Abuse FinalSCRIPTURES AGAINST ABUSE

I am so pleased to announce that I’ve published a new e-book on Amazon.  I wrote Scriptures Against Abuse to help abused Christians retain their faith.  Most pastors are wonderful counselors and they are quick to help abused victims find safety and help.  Unfortunately, there are a few well-meaning Christians, counselors and pastors who advise victims to stay in mental or physical abuse believing that it will lead the abuser to Christ.

This type of attitude leaves the victim with a damaging thought – Does God love the abuser more than he loves the victim?  When the abuser is enabled to continue his/her abuse, remorse rarely happens.  The abuse continues and may get worse.  The children suffer and often develop tendencies for abuse as well.  There are no positives for abuse.

How does God feel about abuse?  What do the Scriptures teach?  I found over 150 Scriptures that not only teach about abuse, but they warn us that abuse is never healthy and is not tolerated in the Christian faith.  God hates abuse.

Scriptures Against Abuse does not determine whether or not the victim should leave their spouse.  That decision is a personal one and must be made by the parties involved.  However, Scriptures Against Abuse does include step-by-step logic that can help any victim make a more spiritually informed decision.  For example, before making a decision victims should answer the question – “Which is more important to God – my calling or my marriage?”  God created you for a purpose.  If you can’t pursue that purpose because you live in abuse – are you choosing your marriage over God’s will for your life?

Scriptures Against Abuse begins with a fictional story about April and her search to find an understanding friend.  April was suffering from both mental and physical abuse.  Her husband was a well-liked and faithful church member.  April was encouraged to stay with him and pray for God to help him to control his anger.  April soon fell into depression.  God must love my abuser more than me.

The following chapters discuss Scriptures and how faith should never hide abuse.

Pray with me that this book will be a tool to help rid our faith of those that abuse.  Christ loved us so much that he gave his life for us.  How sad that some people can pray to him, can proclaim their love for him and yet abuse their partner or their children.  Let’s all make sure that we exhibit the “love” of God so that others will find him too.
