Christians and all Trump voters, if Jesus materialized in front of you today, what would he say? I believe a tear would roll down his cheek. He would take your hand and beg you to be compassionate. He would ask you to think of His children on the other side of the aisle.
Think for a moment how you (all) Trump voters felt yesterday morning and up until about 10PM. We prayed, we were anxious, we felt sick. All those feelings swirled around us as we pushed ourselves to remember that no matter what the outcome, God will take care of us. Remember the sick feeling in your stomach when every pundit said Trump didn’t have a chance? Remember the worried headache that you just couldn’t shake.
We won, why should I remember? Because that’s how Hillary voters feel now.
You have a directive straight from Heaven today. Jesus wants you to portray His great love. If you have a friend or co-worker who supported Hillary, don’t be giddy and act like you just won the lottery. Be respectful. Buy them a cup of coffee. Give them a polite nod. Do not grin with a “we beat you” tone.
Be an adult. Shake their hand and say, “I’m sorry you are hurting today.”
You don’t need to say anything else. You don’t need to point out why Trump won or how you feel we are better off. You don’t need to say something insensitive like, “Sorry man but it’s for the best.” The truth is….If you show God’s love and you are compassionate, it won’t change the outcome of the election – I promise. So, don’t be a Christian Jerk.
Show real love and concern for the feelings of those who supported Hillary. Show the kind of love that Christ would show. It is possible to identify with their hurt feelings without flaunting the fact that your candidate won.
After you show compassion, then live the rest of the year praying for that co-worker or friend. Give them time to deal with this in their own way. Keep in touch, lend a hand and show Christian love. Try to win them for Christ by not being a jerk when they were hurting the most.
Today will be awkward for a lot of people. Don’t make it worse by refusing to show Christ’s love. Ease the tension as only a good Christian can.
Dear Jesus thank you for all that you’ve done for us. Please forgive us of our sins. Please help us to live like you would want.
Thank you for your sacrifice and your love for this world. We ask you today to help us show others how very much you love them. Convict our hearts if we have any desire to hurt others over this election. That is not a Christian thing to do and we must purge that desire from our heart.
I pray today that you will correct and reprimand anyone that tries to hurt any democrat over this election. Your children must be the kindest and most compassionate people possible. May we all work overtime to show your love.
Thank you for your love. Help us to join together as one and stand before you as your children. Lead us and guide us to be better people. Help us to want to work together and to get busy. There is much to be done to win this world for you.
God Bless you.
God Bless America.
See you tomorrow
