LET’S GET EVEN

The world would be much better if we all tried to get even. It’s easy to become a thoughtless taker and expect others to give and help while we never return the favor.
We must know someone who has been wonderfully kind and thoughtful – people who have encouraged and blessed us with unexpected joy. How about the folks who cooked meals for us or taught our children in Sunday school? Now would be an excellent time to get even.
An eighty-year-old woman who lived alone was asked why she was happy. She answered with a smile, “I have so much to do. I take time to write letters of praise and thanksgiving to people in the community that make life safe and pleasant. I pray daily for ideas I can use to help others. There are so many people I must get even with.”
Bless her kind heart. She has found a beautiful and valuable secret. You cannot outgive good. The law remains true, “as you give, so shall you receive.” (Luke 37:38) Surprises flow into the giver’s life. Great new experiences open up, and suddenly you have a whole new life filled with friends and warm, happy relationships.
